Privacy Policy
Effective 7 October 2026
This privacy policy covers RailBlaster and RailBlaster Demo (together, "the game") on Meta Quest and on Windows through Steam, both the monitor version and the PC VR version. It also covers this website. The game is made and published by John Mark Presents ("we", "us").
Short version: we don't collect, receive or store any data about you. The game has no accounts, analytics, ads or tracking, and it doesn't send your data to us or to anyone else. Everything the game saves stays on your device. If you use Steam, Steam can copy it to your Steam Cloud.
1. What data the game processes and stores
The game stores the following only on your device, so it can keep your progress between sessions:
- Profile names that you type in the game. You choose them; they don't have to be your real name.
- Game progress: levels cleared, unlocked weapons and cosmetics, grades, scores, combo and hit statistics, and checkpoint saves.
- Replays of your best runs ("ghosts"): how your ride moved along the track, when and where you fired, and the run's score, time and date.
- Settings such as graphics, comfort and audio options. On PC this can include the path to a music folder you choose.
To play, the game also processes input in real time: your headset and controller positions in VR, or your keyboard, mouse and gamepad on a monitor. This input is used while you play and isn't recorded, apart from the run replays above. The game doesn't use your microphone, cameras, passthrough, eye or face tracking, or your location.
2. What the game does not collect
The game doesn't connect to any server we run, and it sends no data to us or to third parties. We don't collect your name, email address, device identifiers, IP address, usage statistics or crash reports through the game. We have no way to see your profiles, scores or replays.
3. How the data is used
The data in section 1 is used only inside the game on your device: to remember your progress and unlocks, to show your hiscores and grades, to show the ghost of your best run, to let you resume from a checkpoint, and to keep your settings. It isn't used for advertising or profiling, and it isn't sold or shared.
4. Platform features (Steam and Meta)
The store you bought the game from runs some features itself, under its own privacy policy:
- Steam (Windows): when Steam is running, the game reports achievements and achievement progress to Steam. Steam Cloud can copy your saved profiles between your PCs. Valve handles that data; we only see totals across all players, such as the percentage of players who unlocked an achievement. See the Valve Privacy Policy.
- Meta Quest: Meta handles your purchase, downloads and Meta account. We receive the usual sales and aggregate store reports from Meta, but the game sends Meta nothing about how you play. See the Meta Privacy Policy.
5. How to delete your data
Because your data stays on your device, you can delete it yourself at any time, and it's free:
- In the game: delete a profile from the profile menu. That profile's progress, scores and replays go with it.
- Meta Quest: uninstall the game. The game's saved data is removed along with it.
- Windows: delete the folder
%LOCALAPPDATA%\RailBlaster(for the demo,%LOCALAPPDATA%\RailBlaster Demo). - Steam Cloud: if you also want to remove the copy in your Steam Cloud, turn off Steam Cloud for RailBlaster in the game's Steam properties, then delete the folder above. Or ask Steam Support to remove it. Valve holds your achievements and Steam Cloud data, so requests to delete those go to Valve. Data held by Meta about your account and purchases is deleted through Meta.
Anyone, in any country, can also email us at johnmarkpresents@gmail.com to ask about their data or to request deletion. We'll reply within 30 days and never charge for it. The only request we can't carry out is deleting data we don't have: we hold no player data from the game, and we can't delete data held by Valve or Meta. In those cases we'll explain how to ask them directly.
6. This website
This website has no cookies, analytics, ads or forms, and it loads nothing from other companies. It's hosted on GitHub Pages. To deliver pages, GitHub may log technical information such as your IP address. See the GitHub Privacy Statement. If you email us, we use your message and email address only to answer you, and we delete them when we no longer need them.
7. Children
The game collects no personal data from anyone, including children under 13 (or the minimum age where you live).
8. Changes to this policy
If a future update changes what the game collects, for example by adding online leaderboards, we'll update this policy before that update ships and change the date at the top.
